Sharon Alvis is a thought leader and high-performing executive with experience bringing healthcare products to market. She delivers a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions of providers, payers, and patients, and can assist innovative companies that are redefining the status quo by navigating the nuances of the industry. Her career trajectory has been marked by serving in senior management positions with health plans, hospitals, and physician organizations, including holding primary responsibility for multiple start-ups and successfully leading HMOs, PPOs, a Physician Hospital Organization (PHO), and an EAP. She served as President of Vista360health, an HMO, and as Regional VP – Texas & Louisiana for a Medicare Advantage Plan. She was also CEO of a PHO representing 450 physicians and 3 unaffiliated hospitals. Sharon brings expertise in understanding the delivery system and the motivators of these various industry participants and stakeholders.
Before joining Sendero Health Plans, Sharon served as Market President for Curative Insurance Company, where she led the development of a new PPO fully insured product catering to large employers.
She spent her early career in business development and executive leadership roles for various health systems and start-ups, working extensively with managed care products. She is a member of the Austin Healthcare Council and is Licensed by the Texas Dept. of Insurance as a General Lines Agent – Life, Accident, Health & HMO.
Tierra Thomas is the Chief Operations Officer for Sendero Health Plans. She joined Central Health in 2010, and she was one of the first employees to help build Sendero Health Plans in 2011 for the company’s public launch in 2012. She has 25 years of healthcare administration experience, a Master’s in Healthcare Administration, and she is pursuing her Doctor of Healthcare Administration degree currently. In her leisure time, Mrs. Thomas enjoys gardening, cheering on her daughter, long walks/hikes with her two dogs, and appreciating life & laughs with her husband, family, and friends.
Dr. Jennings is a board-certified preventive medicine physician. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she completed residency training, served on faculty, and continues to hold an Associate Faculty appointment. She is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Jennings has over 15 years of leadership and front-line experience in population and public health programs and direct patient care. In her current role as the chief medical officer of Sendero Health Plans, she provides clinical and population health expertise to drive optimization of quality and access to care for our members. In her free time, Dr. Jennings can be found in her garden, out in nature with her son and husband, or at the local yoga studio.
Elizabeth
Barreneche joined Sendero Health Plans in August of 2013 as an Accounting
Assistant after relocating from Canada. She holds a BS in Accounting and has
leveraged her financial experience to work her way up through the company
developing a deep understanding of managing plan financials.
Ms.
Barreneche was named Chief Financial Officer for Sendero Health Plans in 2016.
Karen Ator joined Sendero Health Plan as the Chief Strategy Officer in January 2024. She brings to the Sendero Team over 30 years’ experience managing Health Plan Operations, Claims, Compliance, Plan Design, Members Services and Marketing. Karen is a Dog Lover Extraordinaire and spends much of her personal time enjoying activities with her four-legged fur babies.
Natalie recently joined the Sendero Team in January 2024 as Chief of Staff.
With 20 years’ experience in physician recruitment, practice management, health plan contracting and network development, she brings valuable expertise to her role.
During sunny weekends Natalie loves accompanying her husband on motorcycle rides through the Texas Hill Country and exploring the next best Texas BBQ.
Allegra Hastings-Martinez is the Director of Quality & Population Health for Sendero Health Plans. She joined the company in June 2015 and has worked in different departments over her time at Sendero. She is a native Austinite and enjoys reading, crafting and her local coffee truck.
Stephanie Mendez is the Director of Operations for Sendero Health Plans. She has been with Sendero since 2015, transitioning from the Marketing and Outreach Department to Operations. With a background in advocacy and nonprofit, she brings a compassionate touch to her role.
Outside of the office, Stephanie is a devoted wife and mother of three. Her passion for family shines as she hosts weekend dinners and cheers enthusiastically at her children’s numerous extracurricular activities.
Sarah Miller is the Director of Utilization Management and Quality of Care with the Medical Management Department for Sendero Health Plans. She joined the company in January 2024 and has 25 years’ experience as a RN with 15 years in a medical management role. In her leisure time, Mrs. Miller will usually be found with her spouse of 38 years somewhere on their ranch taking care of their various spoiled animals.
Pamela Piatt serves as the Director of Provider Network for Sendero Health Plans. She has 18 years of experience in provider network development and management, including 10+ years at Sendero Health Plans. She has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Healthcare Administration from Texas State University. She also earned a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Texas State University. In her free time, Ms. Piatt volunteers for the Adopt-A-Beach clean-up program at Mustang Island State Park and Padre Island National Seashore.
Misty Smith, RN, CCM is Director of Care Management and Key Populations Access for Sendero Health Plans. She joined Sendero in 2014 and has over 25 years of managed care experience in Texas. Mrs. Smith enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her husband and daughter in her leisure time.
Keri Sullivan is the Director of Compliance for Sendero Health Plans. She joined Sendero in June 2023 and has 17 years of health plan compliance and risk management experience, including 12 years of Affordable Care Act/Marketplace health plan compliance management. Keri is an Arizona State University alumna and spends much of her free time hiking with her daughters and dog or volunteering in her community.
Rodolfo Ybarra is the Director of Business Development for Sendero Health Plans. He joined the company in May 2012 and has 25 years of healthcare administration experience in the Austin/Central Texas area. Mr. Ybarra is Licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance as a General Lines Agent – Life, Accident, Health & HMO. In his leisure time, Mr. Ybarra will likely be found on a beach with his wife and 2 kids, enjoying live music, or exploring the great outdoors.
